Terms and Conditions for donations and memberships, including Professional Code of Conduct

Charity / nonprofit status
Standard Accessibility Reporting, Inc. (hereinafter “The Corporation”) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization (EIN: 88 1313570) under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. A financial statement is available upon written request from the Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Consumer Protection, Commonwealth of Virginia, P.O. Box 1163, Richmond, VA, 23218. The Registered Agent for Standard Accessibility Reporting, Inc. is Registered Agents, Inc., 8401 Maryland Dr, Ste S, Richmond, VA, 23294.
Donation terms and conditions
- Donation Payments. Payments may be made online at The Corporation’s website using a credit card.
- General Donation purposes. It is understood and agreed that general donations made to The Corporation support day-to-day operations to fulfil the mission as stated in The Corporation’s bylaws. General donations are allocated at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
- Restricted Donations. The Corporation can accept restricted donations for a specific purpose. Please contact the leadership in advance to make a restricted donation.
- Mailing List Opt-Out. Donors may opt-out of joining our public mailing list for notifications about The Corporation’s work.
- Donations made while signing up as a member. Our membership form contains an option to make an additional donation. If an additional donation is made on the membership form, the terms and conditions of this section apply. Such additional donations do not confer any adjustment to membership status or benefits for members.
- Refunds. Upon written request, donations will be refundable up to one week from the date and time of the donation. After one week, no refunds will be issued. Donation refund requests must be made by sending an email to info@stanadrdari.org. Allow up to one month for processing of refunds.
- Morality Clause. If at any time the donor, or his or her name, or the name of his or her company, may compromise the public trust or the reputation of The Corporation, including acts of moral turpitude, The Corporation with the approval of the board of directors has the right to return the donation.
Public Membership Terms and Conditions
- Eligibility. Public memberships are open to any individual or organization.
- Conversion option. Any Public Member may change to a Professional Member if they qualify for Professional membership, and by paying the appropriate fees.
- Transferability. Public memberships are not transferrable.
- Non-refundable. Public memberships are non-refundable.

- If paying annually, the initial memberships last for one year from the first day of the subsequent calendar month (e.g., a member joining on May 15th, 2024 would be valid through the end of June, 2025.) Subsequent annual renewals are due on or before the first day of the month after the membership expires. If renewals are late, they will be back-dated to the due date.
- If paying by monthly automatic payment, public memberships are valid for 31 days after the last payment was received.
- Payments. Public members may make payments to join:
- Annually, via credit or debit card at The Corporation’s online membership form
- Annually, by mailing the donation/membership form (contact the organization for details).
- Monthly, via The Corporation’s Patreon account, linked to from the Membership and Donation pages of The Corporation’s website.
- Bylaws. Public members agree to abide by the publicly Bylaws of the organization.
- Member Handbook. Public members agree to abide by the policies set forth in the Members’ Handbook, available on The Corporation’s website.
- Participation in member surveys and polls. Public members can participate in opinion polls.
- Public information. Public members may opt to withhold their name from the list of members published on The Corporation’s website.
Professional Membership Terms and Conditions
- Eligibility. Memberships are open to:
- Individual persons who work on accessibility and technology, or who worked in that capacity and are now retired.
- To be eligible to become an Individual Member, the person must not own, direct, or be an employee of an incorporated legal business entity / company conducting work related to accessibility.
- Organizations that are an incorporated legal business entity / company conducting work related to accessibility.
- Membership is closed to:
- “Shell” organizations having no real persons who are engaged in day-to-day business that relates in some way to accessibility and technology, including Companies formed specifically to provide a vote for (in support of, on behalf of, etc.) another business entity.
- Any individual or organization that is directed by, or has been paid by another individual or organization to provide an additional vote for (in support of, on behalf of, in collaboration with, etc.) another business entity (e.g., subsidiary companies, affiliate companies, subcontractor companies, individual independent subcontractors).
- Individual persons who work on accessibility and technology, or who worked in that capacity and are now retired.
- Conversion option. Any Public Member may change to a Professional Member if they qualify for Professional membership, and by paying the appropriate fees.
- Professional memberships are not transferrable

- Professional membership is assessed on an annual basis. The initial memberships last for one year from the first day of the subsequent calendar month (e.g., a member joining on May 15th, 2025 would be valid through the end of June, 2026.) Subsequent annual renewals are due on or before the first day of the month after the membership expires. If renewals are late, they will be back-dated to the due date.
- Payments. Professional members may make payments to join:
- Annually, via credit or debit card at The Corporation’s online membership form
- Annually, via purchase order or check payment, by selecting the appropriate option on The Corporation’s online membership form.
- Bylaws. Professional members agree to abide by the publicly Bylaws of the organization.
- Member Handbook. Professional members agree to abide by the policies set forth in the Members’ Handbook, available on The Corporation’s website.
- Voting rights. Voting rights are not conferred until the professional membership application has been reviewed and approved by the Executive Director or a member of the Board of Directors, and the membership dues payment is received.
- Professional Mailing List Only Members do not have voting rights or have access to paid member resources.
- Public information. Professional members accept that their names and affiliations (if applicable) will be posted on the public website of the Corporation.
- Code. All Professional Members agree to abide by the Professional Members’ Code of Conduct.
Professional Members’ Code of Conduct
- Mission. Professional Members shall support the attainment of the mission of the organization to generate industry consensus standards for accessibility reporting.
- Dacorum. Professional Members shall respect and value various points of view, including contrary or negative viewpoints, regarding the development of, or adoption of any given standard.
- Prototypes. Professional Members shall not implement or promote as final any reporting standards before they have been voted on. (Members may use alpha/beta prototype versions, but those must be clearly marked as such).
- Representation. Professional Members shall not promote or misrepresent as an SAR adopted industry consensus standard their own alternative versions of an actual SAR adopted industry consensus standard. (For example, a member may not modify accessibility scoring rules that were agreed upon by vote of other members, and then advertise to clients their modified version as if it had been generated by consensus vote of the members of The Corporation.) Professional Members shall not present themselves as speaking on behalf of or representing the Corporation in any way, unless previously authorized to do so in writing by the Board of Directors.
- Confidentiality. Professional Members shall not publicly share documents, research findings, reports or prototypes that are marked as draft for professional member review.
- Claims. Professional Members shall not knowingly make false or misleading claims about their own skills/abilities, or about their products and/or services.
- Membership Status. Professional Members shall inform the Secretary of the Corporation whenever their membership class / status needs to change to reflect any changes in their own situation.
- Public information. The Corporation publishes its adopted industry consensus standards royalty-free and without any one off or recurring charge for use by both members and non-members. Members shall not charge their clients or customers any one-off, recurring or ‘licensing’ or ‘royalty’ fees for access to or use of any freely published standard produced by The Corporation. (Members may charge clients and customers fees for services they provide relating to the implementation and use of The Corporation’s published standards. For example, testing services, training services, or support services.)
